Dear Math 118 students,

Below you shall find some deteals regarding the upcoming exams for MATH118

  • The exams will be on July 1 and July 10, 16:30-18:30. The exams have about 20 questions and last about 120 minutes.
  • There will be only one make-up exam, on July 13, 16:30-18:30. The exam has about 20 questions and lasts about 120 minutes. The make-up exam will cover all the subjects. You may take the make-up exam if you were unable to finish your ordinary exam due to some technical reason (such as power or Internet outage). If that happens, you should contact your instructor.
  • The exams will be conducted on odtuclass, in the same format as the practice quizzes we have been giving out.You will be allowed to go back and forth between the questions.
  • The exams will have the same weight in determining your grade (50% each).
  • In the exams, you will be asked questions that were already asked in the quizzes. In other words, the exam questions will form a subset of the quiz questions.
  • The first exam will cover up to and including Chapter 9. The second exam covers all the subjects.
  • You will not need a camera for the exam.
  • You will be allowed to use your textbook and any written notes you may have taken. No other sources may be used.
  • The quiz grades you have obtained in face-to-face recitations (before the pandemic) will be added to your exam grades as a bonus.
  • When taking the exams, you have to agree to the following statement: “Each student is expected to do the exam on their own without any external aid or tools except your textbook and written notes you may have taken and students may be asked to take an additional online oral examination to explain the answers they have given in the exams.”
  • We shall conduct a trial run for the exams for you to become acquainted with the exam format and to determine possible problems.

Stay tuned for the announcement.
